- Pull the lower half of the rear seat up and toward the front of the Aveo. Remove the bolts that secure the seat to the floor, using a socket set, and lift the seat out of the car. It is not necessary to remove the seat back, just the bottom cushion. Lift up the floor panel below the bottom of the rear seat and you will see the fuel tank.
- Remove the electrical connector that connects the fuel pump to the car’s electrical system.. Remove the four bolts that hold the fuel pump in place on the tank. Grasp the top of the pump and turn it counterclockwise until the locking tabs on the top line up with the slots in the tank, and you can remove the fuel pump.
- Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to both ends of the electrical connectors (on the new fuel pump and on the car’s electrical system) and install the new fuel pump the reverse of the removal.
