Hello! good morning, this day we will write an article about How to Change Brake Pads on a Ford Fiesta
The MK6 is an adaptation of the Ford Fiesta that adds sporty styling and performance enhancements. Among the enhancements to the Ford Fiesta are anti-lock disc brakes on all wheels. When the pads wear out, the safest thing is to replace them, learn with us how to change the brake pads on a ford fiesta mk6.
Ford recommends that you replace the Fiesta’s brake pads every 50,000 miles, although driving habits and environmental influences can cause the pads to wear faster. You can take your MK6 to a brake service station or you can replace the front brake pads yourself for a fraction of the cost.
How to Change the Brake Pads on a Ford Fiesta MK6
This time we will tell you how to change the front brake pads on a Fiesta MK6. Follow these steps:

1. Park your party and turn off the engine
Park the Ford Fiesta on level ground and turn off the engine. Apply the parking brake and pull the hood release lever under the instrument panel on the driver’s side of the car. Stand at the front of the MK6 and lift the hood.
Now remove the master cylinder cover (it is located at the rear of the engine section, to the right of the engine). Withdraw half of the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe and place the cap loosely on top of the container.
2. Put blocks on the tires
Locate tire blocks behind the Fiesta’s rear tires.. Then loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels of the car with the help of a wrench. Place the jack under the recommended jacking points on the frame under the Ford’s side skirts. Raise the front wheels off the ground and support the axles on jack stands.
3.Remove lug nuts and remove front wheels.
The next thing to do to change the brake pads on a Fiesta MK6 is to remove the right caliper slide bolts with a 13mm wrench. Rotate the right wheel counterclockwise for better access to the two slider bolts located on the back of the caliper. Lift the caliper out of the caliper bracket and place it on top of the rotor or steering arm above the wheel hub.
4.Remove the brake pads
Pull the brake pads out of the slots in the brackets on either side of the brake rotor, then inspect the rotor for damage. Brake pad wear indicators can scratch the surface of the rotor, leaving deep grooves that will prematurely wear out new brake pads. Replace the rotors if there are visible grooves or warping.
5. Apply brake lubricant
Uses anti-seize brake compound on the back of the new pads and slide them into the slots in the caliper bracket.
Place a worn brake pad across the two caliper pistons that extend from the inside of the caliper. Hold the pad against the pistons with a C-clamp or channel lock pliers. Now squeeze the clamp or caliper lock to force both pistons into the caliper side. Remove the clamp or calipers and the worn brake pad once the pistons are fully recessed into the side of the caliper.
6. Screw in the bolts and spin the wheel
This time you must place the caliper on the new brake pads and the caliper support. Screw in the caliper slide bolts by hand before tightening them with the 13mm wrench. Turn the wheel to the right and go to the left front brake assembly.
7. Repeat the process on the other side
Repeat the process to replace the front left brake pads (steps 3 to 7). Turn the wheel to neutral (straight ahead) and reattach the wheels to the Fiesta’s front wheel studs. Screw in the studs by hand, then jack up the front of the car and remove the jack stands. Lower the front tires to the ground and tighten the studs with the wrench. Get back in the driver’s seat.
8. Start the Fiesta’s engine
Now that you have been able to change the brake pads on a Ford Fiesta MK6 hit the brake pedal repeatedly until the pedal response stiffens. Move to the engine compartment.
9.Remove the master cylinder cover
Proceed to remove the master cylinder cap and place a funnel into the reservoir, then fill the reservoir with DOT-3 brake fluid as needed. Remove the funnel once the reservoir is “full” and replace the master cylinder cover. Finally close the hood of your Ford Fiesta.
