Hi!,good afternoon. In this post you will see a description of fuses and relays Error P0441 – how to fix?
Include with pics of block diagrams along with their locations. Highlighted the cigarette lighter fuse (as the most popular thing people look for).

Code definition P0441
A diagnostic trouble code P0441 sets when a fault is detected in the EVAP control circuit. This code may be visible with other EVAP system codes.
What does the code P0441 mean
The P0441 code is displayed when the ECU detects an abnormal purge flow with the Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) system. If the purge flow is faulty, the Check Engine light in the instrument panel will illuminate. The ECM uses a vacuum switch to detect purge flow from the EVAP canister.
What causes the code P0441?
- Faulty fuel cap
- Defective vacuum switch
- Damaged EVAP cable
- Open or short circuit in the wiring harness
- Limitation in the EVAP system
- Leak in EVAP
- Relief valve
What are the symptoms of the P0441 code?
In most cases, the driver will not notice any symptoms of the P0441 code. If at all, you may smell fuel, but this is rare.
How can a mechanic diagnose the P0441 code?
- The technician will start by connecting a scan tool to the ECU to see what codes are stored. The freeze frame data will be copied as this data tells when the code was set.
- The code will then be deleted and a test drive will be carried out.
- If the code returns, perform a visual inspection of the EVAP system.
- The scan tool checks the fuel pressure data in the fuel tank for possible faults.
- Inspect and test the fuel cap.
- Also in this case, a scan tool should be used to check the correct operation of the vacuum switch and the bleed valve.
- If neither of the above tests is conclusive then a smoke test will be performed to check for any leaks in the EVAP system.
The most common errors when diagnosing the P0441 code
The most common errors are usually due to missing basic elements or missing steps during diagnosis. A smoke test may be necessary in some cases, this should be done with a gas tank between 15% and 85% to ensure results.
Although the fuel cap is the most common cause of P0441, it should be inspected and tested. Gas hoods can be tested with manual vacuum testers or with a smoke test which can detect any leaks in the gas hood while it is being performed.
How serious is the P0441 code?
P0441 is usually not a serious code. The Check Engine light is usually the only symptom that is felt. When the Check Engine light illuminates, the vehicle will fail the OBD-II Emissions Test in many conditions. Problems with EVAP may be accompanied by a slight fuel odor that may be disturbing for some people.
What repairs can fix the code P0441?
- Replacing the fuel cap
- Repair of an EVAP leak
- Repair of all damaged components of the EVAP system in which the defect was found
- Replace the vent valve
- Replace a damaged vacuum switch
- Wire harness replacement or repair
Additional notes regarding code P0441
P0441 can be hard to locate by code as many different things can cause it. An advanced level scanning tool is necessary to successfully diagnose this code. It is needed to check the operation of the vacuum circuit breaker and purge valve, and to perform various EVAP system tests.
In some scenarios, an EVAP system smoke test should be performed to find a leak. Leakage from the EVAP system is generally fuel vapor leakage. These leaks are smaller than the eye can see, so a smoke test is a specialized tool used to pressure an EVAP system with smoke that will make microscopic leaks visible. Do not do this on a completely empty or completely full tank.
